I had been in Australia all of five minutes before I heard the self-deprecating mantra of Australian finance "no conflict no interest" - I tell that to my Canadian colleagues who laugh at it (rightly) - however it underpins a serious point that the industry is awash with genuine conflicts that often aren't recognised - whether its manager funded research or mortgage broker commissions - these issues should be addressed in the fashion raised in this article.
